The late VW Bro Graham Tunstall and his wife Noelyn Tunstall, before they passed away, generously bequeathed $30,000 which was to be held in Trust, to be known as the ‘Tunstall Memorial Award’.
It was their wish that each year the interest earned from that Trust be used to fund a charitable organisation in the Port Macquarie District on their behalf.
Mr and Mrs Tunstall’s intentions were to ensure the funds were allocated annually to a charity within the Port Macquarie District with alternate years being allocated to the Port Macquarie Marine Rescue Unit, which the Tunstall’s had a very close relationship with.
In 2016, Lachlan Macquarie Lodge, also referred to as LML, made a donation of $1000.00 from the Tunstall Memorial Award to the Lake Cathie Rural Fire Service. The funds were put towards urgent building repairs and improvements of the Rural Fire Services Building at Lake Cathie.
In April 2017, a cheque for $1000.00 from the Tunstall Memorial Award to the Port Macquarie Marine Rescue Unit and were presented by the members of LML to the Unit Commander of Port Macquarie Marine Rescue Unit, Neil Yates, who was also accompanied by Deputy Unit Commander Greg Davies.
